With my big plans gone, and my headlights on I drive the deserts and the hill sides Twilight, city lights, I'm still alive I resume this state that I kept for so long I drift and hope to melt it in a song and I'm burning myself but this freeze won't melt and the old ghosts keep singing right along Well smiles they fade, where do they go maybe they get lost in the reckoning witnessing, signaling, conditioning I resume this state that I kept for so long I drift and hope to melt it in a song and I drift away like a dead giveaway I resume solid state way too soon I resume this state that I kept for so long I drift and hope to melt it in a song and I'm burning myself but this freeze won't melt and the old ghosts keep singing right along

Oh little red hen somethings gonna come up over this ridge my friend little white hen something keeps creepin up over this ridge I hear a coyote howl run all out to the end and shout Reminds me of a soul, never so lost just here to roam They say that life, comes and goes I've seen some life, come and go This cold wind blows right through a soul I know that life won't come and go Oh no little red hen somethings gonna creep up over this ridge my friend little white hen something keeps creepin up over this ridge I hear a coyote howl run all out to the end and shout Reminds me of a soul, never so lost just here to roam Set up high and watch the world turn Set up high at night Set up high and held my head so Set up high and wait for the world to show They say life, comes and goes I've seen some life, come and go This cold wind blows right through a soul I know that life won't come and go.

Ragged Truth 03:59
Blew in today, just a ragged face and life like ours, keeps our pace just to see you, so lets get free lets say hey, make something loose shake off this lead, maybe shed this world for a little bit of truth... End of the road, but we make it move never quite had much but we make it move Most times you realize we never get to choose like a ragged truth, stagger through When the high, starts to rise and our miles, arent quite out The hell with this load, you can have it too Shake off this lead, I need to get loose shed this world, a little bit of truth The hell with this load, yeah lets get loose End of the road, but we make it move Most times you realize it's just a ragged truth Ragged truth, staggering through I can't go home yet but I can't stay here If my soul gets too heavy now, gotta find an out If my soul gets too heavy now, I'm gonna have to howl Wake up and find a place oh help me help me howl Wake up and find a place oh help me help me howl Never quite had much but we make it move Most times you realize It's just a ragged truth like a ragged truth, stagger through

Dear Lucky 03:15
I got all I need to live this life, inside this ol worn out heart Sleep on stone county rocks, Some thoughts they creep like a fox I had some doglegs in my life, somedays I helped em find the light So don't shoot me down to the ground, with your big guns and your fancy rounds I won't turn away to hide my pain, still standing there on sunny days Seems like way down inside of a cowboy singers soul Saw there some shiny light, yeah. You don't sing much more it's up to you Might give us the blues and only for one shoe I found the words to get me home Shoot me down to the ground, Cowboy songs are hardly found Sweet regrets and memories, they say it's cool beneath the willow tree Seems like way down inside of a cowboy singers soul It was nothing just kind to all Yeah Hi ho it's a long one I know going down this road many friends that I've known But no friend like the man, we call Lucky back home No friend like the man from that Ozark home

Old Trails 03:05
And there's no one, here to cry for me And this road roars like a train Make change, everyday Find something here to say See the rest gone with time Summer heat lights us all to hell Find my way to the old trail Before it all just disappears Yeah West way we go South aways See down this road aways Pull pedals here to ease the day Things they say they can't take away Eatin dirt keeps em all away Yeah west way we go South aways Dreams that we owe Can't be consoled But these old trails Still lead home

Road Stagger 04:47
It's getting so old, and I lost track Driving on ahead and we're never going back I feel a heart attack when I'm setting beside the wood stack The brakes are out, and slipping away My brakes are gone on a 12/12 grade A thousand miles just gone right away Well steady through the ride, oh but were alright They can't own you anymore, no free rides out the door Well we ran quite out today, neon lights just fade away The Brakes are out, felt them slippin away My brakes are gone on a 12/12 grade Miles are gone, no coffee in the dawn Brakes are out, I felt them slipping away Echoes through this road It echoes through this road and it echoes through our road...... Our brakes are out, I feel em slippin off Our brakes are gone, on a 12/12 grade A thousand miles, just gone away our brakes are out, feel em slipping away.

Pain I know and feeling rather low running east to west and don't she know I got the lonely highway just a lonely highway song and I don't like dying on nothing but old blacktop Said I don't mind crying but I got no one to call Said I don't mind dying on nothing but ol blacktop It's my ol highway, my ol highway blues Things I own, not sure where they've gone Check with down and out but it makes no difference now Lonely highway, lonely highway blues Said I don't like dyin on nothing but old blacktop Said I don't mind crying but I got no one to call Lonely highway, lonely highway blues To some place I go, and I hope it's my home I been gone so long and I feel like carrying on Some other highway, some other brand new highway Said I don't like dying with nothing but old blacktop I got the lonely highway, lonely highway song

I got all day while I got all night too Its just my whole life you can have it too yeah singing of an old song, man left for dead nothing inside left just a weary head Yeah getting along that way its a hard way but the wild way sets us free Old hearts are taken like compensation and it was all eaten up without a sound And Second chances bring new questions while the old ones just fade away Yeah ride away now through the hollows A second chance heart out on your sleeve Yeah ride away now through the hollows A second chance heart out and free I'm not easy to love and I'm worn out you see I'd rather leave you with a song Yeah ride away now through the hollows A second chance heart out and free.

Bat Country 02:58
Here there and everywhere, things I love gonna get me anywhere Only thing we did wrong, stayed near town just a little too long Hey Babe let me bring this ol heart back home Well maybe your right & I was wrong might never get it right like I try in these songs Highways there and highway trails don't live to fast come have a still spell Big Green trees and my bat country home Delta moans and Ozark Stones, Fifty Thousand miles here to roam Well the trails are rough and the sylamores level, plow these crops with nothing but trouble Our big green place to set right down awhile. Our big green place to set right down awhile.

Fading Fast 03:26
yeah Six tons of time along the way Rambling along chasing the good sounding songs With trails that are dry and streams not too wide This road, where will it go This fools gold, really takes it's toll I'm sharing my old shadow Just ramble along trying to make some right from the wrong Fading fast but I'm fallin straight ahead And This fools gold, really takes it's toll I'm sharing my old shadow Well the night has come and here we are You've been running now so long Don't run now yeah it's time to fall.

about

Produced and Recorded at Buffalo Music/Jonivan Jones Music.
All songs written by Jonivan Jones. Mastered for Digital and Vinyl by James Plotkin (Plotkinworks).

"Fighting uphill the last few years and traveling, sleeping in cars or on the ground in parks & national forests along tour routes created the backdrop for an album. It's full of road songs, still spells, little red hens, ragged truths, an ode to an important cowboy singer/songwriter, old trails, road staggers, lonely highway blues, bat countries, 2nd chance hearts and a fast fade. This release blankets the peak of 17 years of Independent songwriting, performing live and traveling across the States and parts of the world, it's a mixture of influences and experiences from Arkansas Folk to the Delta & Country Blues sound to the familiar rhythm of Americana and its roots."
